Job summary

Sodexo is recruiting an Electrical Engineer for HMP Northumberland in Morpeth. The role is full-time, permanent, 37.5 hours per week with an on-call rota and a salary up to £40,952.57 per annum.

You will maintain essential prison infrastructure, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational efficiency. Applicants should have an electrical apprenticeship, City & Guilds/ONC/HNC, IEE 18th Edition, and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical apprenticeship.
• Electrical qualification (City & Guilds, ONC/HNC or equivalent).
• IET/IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance and repairs.
• Inspect, test, fault-find, and maintain electrical systems and equipment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturer specifications.
• Complete all work to relevant trade standards and regulations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
• Identify and report defective or unsafe equipment.
• Support other FM trades and escort specialist contractors when required.
• Participate in the on-call rota and respond to emergency call-outs.
• Comply with all Health & Safety, security, and company procedures.

Role Overview

As an ElectricalEngineer at HMP Northumberland, you will play a vital role in maintaining theprison's essential infrastructure, directly contributing to the safety,security, and operational efficiency of the establishment.

Working within aprison environment means that compliance with safety regulations, statutoryrequirements, and operational procedures is critical. You will be responsiblefor ensuring all electrical work is carried out to the highest standards,maintaining accurate maintenance records, and completing all associatedadministration in a timely and compliant manner.

You will be expectedto use your technical expertise and initiative to diagnose faults, identifysolutions, and make informed decisions based on manufacturer documentation,technical schematics, and operational instructions.
