Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Location: Slough, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

Telent is a leading technology company specializing in designing, building, supporting, and maintaining mission-critical communications and digital infrastructure across the UK. We are seeking an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, performing maintenance and commissioning activities in designated areas including the top of M25, M4, M11, and bottom of M1, A14, M40, A1(M).

This role involves working with a supportive team and using your initiative to solve problems in the field. Our field teams are essential in delivering and supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, and civil works, contributing to the nation's critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Attending to cable breaks and repairing copper and fibre cables to ensure network operation.
• Completing all commissioning of equipment to standards, on time, and within budget.
• Addressing equipment issues within Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets within your area, day or night.
• Undertaking general maintenance, commissioning, and testing of fibre and copper equipment.
• Completing all required documentation promptly.

Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments.

Key Skills:

• Experience with motorway communications or related equipment/systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, and fibre splicing/testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call when required.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
