Job Description:

Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Location: Slough, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

Telent enables the technology that keeps us connected, whether through phones, internet, or transportation systems. We are recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, performing maintenance and commissioning activities in designated areas, including the top of M25, M4, M11, and other major motorways.

This role involves working with a supportive team and using your initiative to solve problems in the field. Our field teams are essential in maintaining and installing telecommunications infrastructure that keeps the nation's critical systems operational 24/7.

Responsibilities include:

  • Attending to cable repairs on copper and fibre networks.
  • Completing equipment commissioning to standard, on time and within budget.
  • Responding to equipment issues in transmission buildings and roadside cabinets.
  • Maintaining and testing fibre and copper equipment.
  • Completing all related documentation promptly.

Candidate requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments, is required. Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing & testing, and experience with motorway communication systems are essential. A full UK driving license and the ability to work overtime or on call as needed are also required.
