Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Location: Slough, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

Telent enables everyday technology: from phones to transportation. We are hiring an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities in designated areas such as the M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

Do you enjoy working with a supportive team and using your initiative to solve problems in the field? Our teams are vital for maintaining critical infrastructure 24/7, including maintenance, installation, cabling, and civils works.

Responsibilities include:

• Attending to cable breaks and repairs on copper and fibre cables.
• Completing all equipment commissioning to standard, on time and within budget.
• Responding to equipment issues in Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets.
• Performing general maintenance and testing on fibre and copper equipment.
• Completing documentation promptly.

Candidate requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments.

Key requirements:

• Experience with motorway communications or related systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunications networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing, and testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call as required.
• Full UK driving license.
