Job summary

Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is seeking an experienced infrastructure professional to lead the design, implementation, and support of Microsoft Exchange Online, On Premises, and Hybrid environments. You will own integrations via Graph API, EWS, REST APIs, and PowerShell, and drive automation, tooling, and reporting.

You will act as the technical authority for Microsoft 365 messaging, ensuring secure, compliant, and highly available services.

• Experience leading Exchange/M365 messaging, security, and governance.
• Strong knowledge of Graph API, EWS, REST, and PowerShell automation.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and support hybrid messaging environments.
• Ability to mentor engineers and drive continuous improvement.

Job description

• Lead the design, implementation, and support of Microsoft Exchange Online, On Premises, and Hybrid environments, ensuring secure, resilient, and scalable messaging services.
• Design and deliver integrations between Exchange and enterprise systems using Microsoft Graph API, Exchange Web Services (EWS), REST APIs, and PowerShell automation.
• Develop and maintain automation, tooling, and reporting solutions to improve operational efficiency, service performance, and user experience.
• Act as the technical authority for Microsoft 365 messaging and compliance capabilities, including eDiscovery, retention policies, litigation hold, and information governance.
• Ensure messaging platforms remain secure, highly available, and compliant with organisational, regulatory, and legal requirements through effective security controls and resilience planning.
• Collaborate with technical, business, security, and legal stakeholders to shape messaging strategy and deliver solutions that meet organisational needs.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers, championing best practice, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing across teams.
• Maintain architecture, operational, and service documentation, while proactively identifying opportunities to adopt emerging technologies and improve platform capabilities.
