Job summary

Mentmore Recruitment Ltd. is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support and evolve our IT infrastructure with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure.

This on-site role in Milton Keynes reports to the Head of Infrastructure and involves owning infrastructure issues while guiding two team members. You will migrate on-prem workloads to Azure, design landing zones, and ensure secure, scalable systems.

Infrastructure Engineer

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support and develop our IT infrastructure, with a strong focus on Microsoft technologies and Microsoft Azure.

Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure, you will take ownership of infrastructure issues, help maintain reliable and secure systems, and play a key role in migrating services from on-premises environments into the cloud. You will also provide technical guidance and support to two team members.

This role would suit an engineer with strong hands‑on infrastructure experience, particularly in Azure cloud environments, who can troubleshoot complex issues and contribute to ongoing infrastructure improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and resolve infrastructure issues across server, network and cloud environments.
• Support and maintain Microsoft-based infrastructure and services.
• Play a key role in migrating on‑premises infrastructure and workloads into Microsoft Azure.
• Design, configure and support Azure landing zones to establish secure and scalable cloud environments.
• Maintain and improve server infrastructure, ensuring performance, availability and reliability.
• Support LAN and WAN infrastructure and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
• Identify infrastructure risks and implement solutions to improve stability and security.
• Provide technical support and guidance to two team members.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and optimisation of the organisation's infrastructure.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Strong experience in an Infrastructure Engineer or similar infrastructure‑focused role.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure.
• Proven experience migrating infrastructure and workloads from on‑premises environments to the cloud.
• Experience with Azure landing zones.
• Strong knowledge of the Microsoft technology stack and server infrastructure.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure issues.
• Knowledge of LAN and WAN networking.
• Ability to work independently while supporting and guiding other team members.

Desirable Experience

• VMware virtualisation experience.
• VMware Horizon experience.
• Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments.
