Job summary

NETbuilder is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join our client’s on-site team in Farnborough, Hampshire. You’ll provide Windows server admin, cloud and on-premises infrastructure support, and help maintain secure, high‑performing systems.

You’ll complete a 10‑week virtual technical training programme before starting on site, with emphasis on Autopilot provisioning, patching, and security best practices. UK Security Clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year commercial industry experience.
• Windows Server 2016+ administration.
• PowerShell scripting.
• EUD provisioning (Autopilot), maintenance, patching and hardening. SSO – concepts and operation.
• Understanding of working in protectively marked environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide Infrastructure support to public cloud SaaS offerings (Office 365) and project-based systems in implementation and support lifecycles.
• Perform maintenance tasks on the infrastructure through change control.
• Assist with monitoring and management of the ticketing and alerting systems for changes and security alerts.
• Triage monitoring alerts and take appropriate actions.
• Maintain monitoring components in line with infrastructure developments.
• Ensure platforms are patched in line with provider recommendations and security policy.
• Assess incident impact, restore service and close follow-up actions.
• Identify trends and plan changes to improve stability and performance.
• Advise customers and project teams on infrastructure and support aspects.
• Collaborate with IT colleagues to improve Secure by Design capabilities.
• Cascade knowledge through knowledge articles for the team and wider organisation.

We invest in your success from day one. Before joining the client on site in Farnborough, you'll complete a 10 week virtual technical training programme. This is designed to build on your current technical skills, your knowledge and 'hands‑on' commercial experience.

The role and your responsibilities:

• Provide Infrastructure support to public cloud SaaS offerings (Office 365) as well as project-based systems (public, private and hybrid clouds) in implementation and support lifecycles.
• Perform maintenance tasks on the infrastructure through change control.
• Assist with monitoring and management of the and project-based ticketing and alerting systems for new changes and security alerts.
• Triage monitoring alerts and perform appropriate action.
• Maintain monitoring components in line with infrastructure developments.
• Ensure all platforms are patched in line with provider recommendations and company security policy.
• Quickly and accurately assess impact of incidents, initiate return to service and ensure follow up actions are completed.
• Identify trends and problems and plan changes to improve stability and performance.
• Advise customers and project teams on infrastructure and support aspects.
• Work with IT infrastructure colleagues to improve the ‘Secure by Design’ capabilities, internally and across its projects.
• Cascade knowledge through knowledge articles for the team and wider organisation.

Your background, skills and experience:

Essentials skills:

• Minimum of one year commercial industry experience.
• Windows Server 2016+ administration.
• PowerShell.
• EUD provisioning (Autopilot), maintenance, patching and hardening. SSO – concepts and operation.
• Understanding of working in protectively marked environments.
