Job summary

Career Cross Limited is seeking an IT Infrastructure Support Engineer to join our client’s Peterborough/Corby/Cambridgeshire team. The role blends business-as-usual infrastructure support with technical project delivery across a wide range of technologies.

You will travel to various sites within Peterborough, Corby and Cambridgeshire, supporting live services, delivering improvements, and acting as a technical escalation point to ensure milestones are met and handovers completed smoothly.

Qualifications

• Essential: Experience with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, security controls (Cyber Essentials), Intune and Autopilot, Azure compute, APIs, AD and Group Policy, and cloud-managed networking (Aruba Meraki).
• Desirable: Windows Server, Hyper-V, Microsoft Graph, scripting and automation.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote and on-site support for incidents, service requests, break-fix and escalations per service desk processes.
• Support infrastructure and cloud services, including security, networking, and collaboration platforms.
• Define technical scope with project teams, design solutions, and deliver implementation activity.
• Act as technical engineer on infrastructure projects: build, config, migration, testing, and handover.
• Attend project meetings and customer sessions; produce design docs, configuration records, and knowledge guides.
• Support customer handover and knowledge transfer during transition to live service.

IT Infrastructure Support Engineer – Peterborough/ Corby/ Cambridgeshire - £35k - £40k + excellent benefits

Our client is a well-established MSP based in Peterborough; due to continued growth and expansion they are looking to recruit an IT Infrastructure Support Engineer, reporting directly to their Regional Team Leader. The IT Infrastructure Support Engineer combine business-as-usual infrastructure support with technical project delivery across a wide range of technologies. The role is responsible for supporting live services, delivering infrastructure improvements and project work, acting as a technical escalation point where required, and ensuring that implementations are completed to agreed standards, timescales, and customer expectations.

You will need access to your own vehicle for this position as you will need to travel to various sites in Peterborough, Corby and Cambridgeshire.

Key

• Provide remote and on-site support to customers for incidents, service requests, break-fix, and technical escalations in line with our clients’ service desk processes.
• Support existing technologies and services within customer environments, including infrastructure, cloud services, security, and communications platforms.
• Work with project and operational stakeholders to define technical scope, design solutions, and deliver implementation activity.
• Serve as a technical engineer on infrastructure and project work, build, configuration, migration, testing, documentation, and handover.
• Attend project meetings, workshops, and customer sessions both remotely and in person where required.
• Produce design documents, user acceptance documentation, configuration records, support documentation, and knowledge guides.
• Support customer handover, knowledge transfer, and transition into live service.

Infrastructure and project responsibilities:

• Monitor network and security events where required and coordinate or arrange appropriate responses based on severity.
• Deploy and maintain cloud-managed wireless solutions and ensure security compliance.
• Maintain mobile device management platforms and associated lifecycle processes.
• Support voice, telephony, and collaboration platforms, including licensing, SBCs, call handling, soft and hard phones.
• Maintain and create integrations and APIs with partners where required.
• Support business systems improvements for more efficient and effective ways of working.
• Help customers with change-management activity associated with project delivery.
• Provide 3rd-line support or act as an escalation point where required.

Knowledge and experience (Essential):

• Experience working with Microsoft 365.
• Knowledge of Google Workspace.
• Knowledge of security controls and Cyber Essentials principles.
• Experience with Intune and autopilot or equivalent tooling.
• Microsoft Teams PBX knowledge.
• Basic networking skills, including layer 3 routing concepts.
• Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Experience working with APIs.
• Intune and Autopilot experience.Aruba Central or Meraki cloud-managed networking experience.
• Azure compute knowledge.

Desirable Skills:

• Windows Server experience.
• Microsoft Hyper-V knowledge.
• Microsoft Graph knowledge.
• Scripting and automation experience.
