Job summary

Forward Role is seeking Infrastructure & DevOps Engineers (eDV) to join a national security-focused engineering team. The role emphasizes strong Linux infrastructure, automation, cloud platforms, and secure engineering practices within secure-site environments.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with AWS/Azure, Terraform, Ansible/Puppet, Docker/Kubernetes, and a drive to deepen cloud-native platform engineering while working within confidential programmes and secure facilities.

Qualifications

• Solid Linux infrastructure fundamentals with automation experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and IaC tooling.
• Exposure to DevSecOps practices and secure engineering pipelines.
• Networking and security-focused infrastructure experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and scale Linux infrastructure across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Develop and manage IaC using Terraform and configuration management tools.
• Implement secure CI/CD pipelines and automate security controls.
• Collaborate with security teams to embed security into the engineering lifecycle.
• Support vulnerability management, monitoring, and incident response.

Infrastructure & DevOps Engineers (eDV) – National Security

Location: Key National Security hubs

Working pattern: Predominantly secure-site based depending on programme

Clearance: Active eDV required Level: Mid-level through to Senior

If you’re strongest at the infrastructure end of DevOps, this one’s for you.

I’m supporting a growing National Security engineering team with multiple requirements across Linux Infrastructure, Cloud, DevOps and DevSecOps.

The sweet spot is someone with strong infrastructure fundamentals who has increasingly moved into automation, cloud and modern engineering practices, rather than someone who only knows how to build pipelines.

What you could be working across

• Linux: RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS
• AWS / Azure
• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
• Ansible, Puppet or similar configuration management
• Docker and Kubernetes Bash / Python CI/CD
• Monitoring and logging
• Infrastructure hardening and vulnerability management
• Networking and secure cloud environments

There are also opportunities to move further into DevSecOps, working across IAM, secrets management, cloud security, secure CI/CD and embedding security earlier into the engineering lifecycle.
