Our Infrastructure Development Engineers are responsible for deploying, maintaining, designing and developing core services used at Cinesite. These include commercial, open source and proprietary services.

The Infrastructure team works closely with our system administrators and production technology software development teams. Together, we have a common goal to ensure reliability of all services and tools required at our global VFX and Animation studios.

We are looking for expertise in a comprehensive set of areas, including API development, database systems, services and tools. This results in exposure to a myriad of different projects across different languages and disciplines, and we’re looking for someone who enjoys these types of challenges.

Cinesite studios mostly use a Linux development and production environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, development, deployment, and maintenance, of services and applications
• Configuration of backend, database and frontend applications
• Set up environments for testing the distributed production tool set
• Troubleshoot issues in production related to the various production services
• Participate in code reviews

Skills we’re looking for:

• Strong professionalism, problem solving, and analytical skills
• Ambitious and autonomous, eager to explore new technologies
• Extensive programming experience, including knowledge of software development methodologies and practices, refactoring, analysis and design, pair programming, etc.
• Previous exposure to web services
• Understanding of software stacks that span from client tools to backend services
• Experience with microservices architecture
• Basic working knowledge of security concepts, principles and considerations especially as they relate to software security and external sources
• Experience with deployment systems, CI/CD

Other Skills that are a plus:

• Functional and/or Object-Oriented Programming experience
• Experience with database replication, backup and recovery is a plus
• Experience with deployment and management of SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience with other languages such as Go or Rust is a plus
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible is a plus
• Experience with container technologies and orchestration, preferably Docker and Kubernetes

Qualifications & Experience:

• B.Sc. or higher degree in Computer Science or related field and/or combination of education and experience equivalent
• Experience in a development role or a DevOps role with programming experience
