Job summary

SRT Marine Systems plc in the United Kingdom is seeking a Cost and Commercial Manager to oversee commercial aspects of infrastructure and civil engineering projects with multiple subcontractors. The role emphasizes budget control, strategic commercial oversight, and effective negotiation with subcontractors.

The ideal candidate will be commercially astute, able to operate at both strategic and work package levels, and will join a Bristol-based team with hybrid working options.

Qualifications

• Degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Significant commercial management experience in infrastructure or civil projects.
• Experience managing multiple subcontractors and budgets.
• Strong negotiation and contract administration skills.
• Ability to identify commercial risks and propose mitigations.

Responsibilities

• Take overall commercial responsibility for multiple subcontract packages across infrastructure and civils projects, from procurement through to final account.
• Maintain accurate cost reports and provide consolidated commercial reporting for the project.
• Establish clear commercial strategies for each subcontract package, aligned with the overall project budget and delivery strategy.
• Lead and support subcontract negotiations to achieve best value and appropriate risk allocation.
• Review and commercially evaluate subcontractor tenders and quotations, undertake tender comparisons and identify anomalies.
• Manage the commercial process for subcontractor variations, claims and additional works, ensuring timely notification and evidence.
