Job summary

Umicore is seeking a Technical Business Development Manager for Infrared coatings and filters at its Dundee facility. You will manage accounts, drive revenue growth, and strengthen customer partnerships across multi-level organizations, collaborating with technical and commercial teams.

You will lead market analyses and develop value propositions, while traveling across Europe and beyond to capture growth opportunities. A science/engineering background and strong negotiation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• University degree in science, engineering, commercial sciences or business administration.
• Experience in sales/business administration in a manufacturing B2B environment with optics industry preferred.
• Excellent business communication and technical sales skills with good understanding of Optical Manufacturing process and Quality Standards.
• Strong organizational skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office and ERP system.
• Affinity with numbers and financial metrics.
• Solid understanding of production flows and cost drivers to assess margins.
• Strong networking and results orientation with negotiation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own and grow the sales pipeline by identifying, developing, and converting new business opportunities to achieve revenue growth.
• Build and maintain strong commercial and technical relationships with customers and develop long-term partnerships.
• Lead technical and commercial engagements to understand needs and develop compelling value propositions.
• Develop and execute account growth, market penetration, and go-to-market strategies.
• Conduct market, competitor, and industry analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
• Provide market intelligence and business cases to support portfolio development and investments.
• Translate requirements into product improvements in collaboration with technical teams.
• Collaborate with Strategic Business Development, Marketing and external partners on campaigns and customer engagement.
• Represent the company at meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and events to promote capabilities and generate opportunities.
• Occasional travel across Europe, North America and other markets to strengthen relationships and growth.
• Manage full sales cycle from RFQ review to order execution and maintain forecasts.
