Job summary

Umicore is seeking an Optical Coating Technician for its Dundee site. This permanent, full-time role offers training and the chance to work on precision thin-film optics that are distributed globally. You will operate coating machines, inspect optics, and collect performance data to ensure high quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• Good manual dexterity and high attention to detail.
• Ability to read and understand job orders/instructions.
• Experience with PC/PLC based machinery.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Awareness of 5S and continuous improvement methods.
• Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and operate thin-film optical coating machines and equipment.
• Load, unload, and inspect precision optics.
• Scan post-production parts to collect data on reflection, absorption and transmission.
• Conduct environmental performance testing of optics.
• Interpret drawings and ensure correct machine set-up.
• Monitor production to avoid defects and downtime.
• Exceed customer expectations with high quality and yields.
• Adhere to health and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with the team to achieve goals.
