IT Support Engineer – Join a Team Making a Real Difference in Defence Training

Location: Larkhill, with some travel across the UK

Security Clearance: Must be eligible for SC

Are you ready to support the future of defence training technology? We're seeking a Support Engineer to join the team supporting the Joint Fires Synthetic Trainer (JFST) and Interim Indirect Fires Simulator (IIDFS) – two of the UK’s most advanced military training systems.

In this vital role, you’ll provide second and third-line support for complex simulation systems, ensuring they run smoothly, securely, and efficiently. You’ll work closely with frontline training teams, managing hardware, software, and networks, while playing a key role in delivering high-quality, mission-critical training to the British Army.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and resolve simulation system issues both remotely and on-site
  • Maintain and upgrade system software and infrastructure
  • Manage network servers, patch deployments, and configuration tasks
  • Monitor system health and generate fault reports
  • Support the installation and roll-out of new systems or upgrades
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and guide operators in system use
  • Keep accurate records of configuration and change management

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in Windows Server administration, networking, and system support
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, WDS, and patch management
  • A proactive, adaptable team player with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, planning, and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • A full UK driving licence (UK and overseas travel may be required)
  • Must be eligible to obtain SC clearance
