Job summary

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils is seeking an Information Rights Officer to join the ICT, Programmes and Information Governance Team in Ipswich. You will help ensure GDPR compliance and data handling best practices across services.

The role involves coordinating information requests, supporting data protection processes and liaising with stakeholders. A basic DBS is required, with flexible/hybrid working. Closing date 28 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience in administrative, governance, legal or ICT environments.
• Experience administering processes governed by legislation with tight timescales.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience meeting competing deadlines with strong organisational skills.
• Proficient in MS 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate responses to Freedom of Information and Environmental Information requests.
• Handle Data Subject Access Requests and redact third-party data.
• Be the first point of contact for internal and external data rights handling.
• Support information governance records and promote best practice across the organisation.
