Job summary

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are seeking an Information Rights Officer to join the ICT, Programmes and Information Governance Team. You will support data protection compliance under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, manage records, and assist with IT governance projects.

The role requires experience in a complex admin/governance environment, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex information to stakeholders. DBS check is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in administrative, governance, legal, ICT or information governance environments.
• Ability to administer processes governed by legislation, regulation or policy.
• Excellent record-keeping and data handling with confidential information.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate responses to FOI and Environmental Information Regulations requests.
• Handle Data Subject Access Requests including redaction of third‑party data.
• Be the first point of contact for internal/external data rights queries.
• Support information governance records and assist IT projects when needed.
