Job summary

West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (MCA) is seeking an Information Governance Officer to join our Legal and Governance team to support independent oversight and advisory work on data protection. The role sits under the Data Protection Officer and Governance Manager, helping ensure day-to-day governance processes are accurate and compliant with UK GDPR, DPA 2018, FOI and EIR.

The postholder will contribute to casework delivery, admin management and monitoring, coordinating governance

Qualifications

• Experience in information governance, data protection, legal administration or compliance.
• Understanding of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and related legislation.
• Experience handling confidential information with accuracy and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Support information governance processes across the organisation.
• Assist with Subject Access Requests and FOI within statutory timeframes.
• Maintain information governance and data protection logs and reports.
• Prepare regular reports for MCA boards and assist with DPIAs.
• Support data breach/incident processes and risk mitigation.
