Job summary

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Information Governance Officer to join our Data Security and Protection Team to lead governance, data protection, and records management. You will support staff with UK GDPR compliance, DPIAs, information sharing, and FOI assurance across the Trust and Group organisations.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent professional qualification in Information Governance, Data Protection, Information Management or a related field.
• Specialist IG or Data Protection qualification, or willingness to work towards one (e.g. ISEB/BCS Data Protection, GDPR Practitioner).
• Experience of IG, Data Protection and confidentiality within an NHS/public sector environment.
• Good knowledge of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, FOI legislation and NHS IG requirements.
• Experience of DPIAs, compliance assessments, policy development and advising stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong IT skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist Information Governance and Data Protection advice to staff and stakeholders.
• Support compliance with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, FOI legislation and NHS standards.
• Undertake Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), information sharing reviews and compliance audits.
• Support digital transformation, service improvement and innovation projects by ensuring governance requirements are met.
• Manage and investigate information governance incidents and provide risk mitigation advice.
• Deliver training, guidance and awareness activities on information governance practices.
• Support development of policies, procedures and assurance reporting across the Trust and Group.
