Job summary

Somerset Bridge Group is seeking an Information Governance Coordinator in Bristol to support the governance framework, policies and controls. The role collaborates with Data Protection and Cyber Security teams while driving improvements and ensuring compliant information handling.

You will engage with stakeholders, promote best practices, and help manage data subjects rights, incidents and governance records as part of a hybrid, office-plus-home setup.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Group's Information Governance framework, policies, standards, processes and supporting technologies.
  • Identify and drive process improvement opportunities to enhance governance, privacy and security practices.
  • Coordinate activities across Information Governance, Data Protection, Cyber Security and wider business teams.
  • Assist in identifying, assessing and mitigating information-related risks.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge across data protection, records management, information security and data governance.
  • Monitor and respond to information governance enquiries via shared mailboxes and governance tools.
  • Maintain governance records, registers and databases, producing insights and identifying trends.
  • Coordinate and support governance activities, including data subject rights requests and incidents.
  • Promote awareness campaigns, training and stakeholder engagement.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders; provide guidance on governance matters.
  • Research regulatory developments to stay aligned with best practice.
  • Take ownership of assigned activities and ensure timely delivery.

Description

The Information Governance Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the delivery, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Group's information governance framework. Working closely with colleagues across Information Governance, Data Protection and Cyber Security, the role will help ensure information is managed securely, effectively and in compliance with legal, regulatory and business requirements.

Location: Bristol

Compensation: £25,500 - £28,500 / year

This role acts as a central point of coordination, providing support across governance activities, stakeholder engagement and improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will help drive the efficient operation of information governance processes, promote best practice across the organisation, and contribute to the ongoing development of governance controls, systems and ways of working.

What you’ll be responsible for:
  • Support the delivery, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Group's Information Governance framework, policies, standards, processes and supporting technologies.
  • Identify and drive process improvement opportunities to enhance governance, privacy and security practices across the organisation.
  • Support the adoption, optimisation and effective use of governance, privacy and security tools and systems.
  • Coordinate activities across Information Governance, Data Protection, Cyber Security and wider business teams to ensure effective collaboration and delivery of governance objectives.
  • Assist in identifying, assessing and mitigating information-related risks, supporting the organisation's governance, security and compliance goals.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge across key information governance disciplines, including data protection, records management, information security, data governance and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor, manage and respond to information governance enquiries received through shared mailboxes, service management platforms and governance tools.
  • Maintain governance records, registers and databases, producing insights and identifying trends to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate and support governance activities, including data subject rights requests, personal data incidents, records management processes, policy reviews, governance assessments and compliance monitoring.
  • Promote a strong culture of information governance through awareness campaigns, training, guidance and stakeholder engagement.
  • Build effective working relationships with stakeholders across the business, providing support, advice and guidance on information governance matters.
  • Research and monitor legislative, regulatory, industry and technology developments, helping to ensure governance practices remain aligned with emerging requirements and best practice.
  • Take ownership of assigned activities and projects, ensuring delivery is timely, accurate and aligned to business objectives.

Desirable
  • Understanding of Information Governance, Data Protection, Records Management or Information Security.
  • Experience in a governance, compliance, coordination, administration or support role.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry.
  • Experience using governance, compliance or service management tools.
