Job summary

Barnardo's Liverpool & Knowsley SENDIASS is seeking an Information, Advice and Support Officer (PW1) to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND. The role is 21 hours per week over three days and is office-based with potential community support in Liverpool & Knowsley.

You will provide information and impartial advice to families and professionals by telephone and email, promote web-based resources, and work with SENDIASS case workers to support self-advocacy and informed

Qualifications

• Knowledge of SEND legal framework and statutory procedures.
• Familiarity with The Children and Families Act (2014), The SEND Code of Practice 2015, Equality Act 2010.
• Ability to provide unbiased information and support to families and professionals.

BARNARDO'S LIVERPOOL & KNOWSLEY SENDIASS: INFORMATION & ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT OFFICER (part time)

Barnardo's Liverpool & Knowsley SENDIASS are currently looking to appoint an Information & Administration Support Officer (PW1) who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with a specialeducationalneed /disability(SEND). Someone who can enable children, young people and their families toparticipatefully indecisionsabout the outcomes that they wish to achieve.

Location

• 109 Eaton Road, West Derby, Liverpool, L12 1LU (office-based Helpline service support)
• The role may, at times, require support in the community (Liverpool & Knowsley)

Working pattern:

• 21 hours per week over 3 days (days to be discussed with successful candidate)
• Hours work around service need

The primary objectives of the PW1 post are to:

Work positively with the child/young person and parent/carer offering support, information and impartial advice by:

• Promoting web-based support and resources
• Telephone/email support and guidance

In addition to above:

• Be able to work both individually and in a team (supporting SENDIASS case workers where needed)
• Be able to give good quality statutory information, advice & support to families and professionals via telephone and email to help with self advocacy. Experience in this area would be advantageous.
• You will have an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of SEND legal framework and its statutory procedures, including matters related to education, health and social care.
• You will be familiar with relevant legislation including The Children and Families Act (2014), The SEND Code of Practice 2015, the Equality Act 2010 and familiar with the IAS national standards.
• You will be required to have a qualification in Special Educational Needs, for example IPSEA training up to, and including, level 3 or are willing to work towards
