Job summary

Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital is seeking an Infection Prevention Staff Nurse to manage day-to-day IPC across the hospital. The role involves staff training, data reporting to the UKHSA, and investigations of site infections, under the Director of Clinical Services.

The post is part-time (20 hours/week) with funded IPC training through De Montfort University and requires NMC registration. You will be part of a collaborative team and gain exposure to new practices and equipment.

Qualifications

• Qualifications relevant to NMC registration.
• NMC registration with the appropriate governing body.
• Experience relevant to NMC registration.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day management of infection prevention and control for the hospital, working with the DIPC.
• Practical infection prevention training for clinical and non-clinical staff.
• Uploading infection prevention data to the UKHSA database.
• Investigating infections at the site with department leads and identifying areas to improve care.
• Chairing the monthly hospital HCAI group.
• Supporting the DIPC to prepare for quarterly IP&C Committee meetings.
• Working as part of a close-knit team headed by the Director of Clinical Services.
• Working alongside consultant-led clinical teams and gaining experience of new practices and equipment.
• Liaising with practitioners from other departments to maintain continuity of patient care.

Job description

This Infection Prevention Staff Nurse post sits in the infection prevention and control function at Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital, reporting into the Director of Clinical Services. The postholder runs day-to-day infection prevention and control across the hospital, covering staff training, infection data reporting and investigation of site infections. The post is part-time, with core co-ordinator work at 20 hours a week, and the successful candidate is funded to complete a Level 6 IPC course at De Montfort University. NMC registration is required.
