Job summary

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Matron with significant IP&C leadership experience. The postholder will lead the Infection Prevention & Control Service, develop and implement the Board Assurance Framework, and drive continuous quality improvements in patient care and clinical outcomes.

The role includes deputising for the Deputy Director of Infection Prevention, acting as a clinical expert, and leading staff development.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level with relevant professional qualifications.
• Demonstrable CPD and ongoing professional development.
• Qualification in Infection Prevention & Control or Microbiology is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Infection Prevention & Control service in collaboration with the Associate Chief Nursing Officer.
• Develop and implement the Board Assurance Framework for Infection Prevention.
• Provide expert clinical advice and education to staff across the Trust.
• Deputise for the Associate Chief Nursing Officer as required and contribute to policy development.
• Ensure IPC governance, patient safety, and quality assurance across schemes and projects.
• Oversee staff recruitment, development, and performance within the IPC team.
• Respond to outbreaks per the established outbreak plan and report findings.
• Engage with stakeholders to improve IPC care pathways and organizational delivery.
