Job summary

Amey is offering a 12‑month Industry Placement in Water & Flood Management for Civil Engineering students. Based in Birmingham or Cardiff, you’ll support flood risk and water management projects, work with multidisciplinary teams and gain hands-on engineering experience from day one.

You’ll be studying toward a BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering, develop skills in design, modelling and reporting, and progress toward professional chartership while contributing to real UK infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support feasibility, design and delivery of flood risk and water management projects.
  • Assist with engineering calculations, technical assessments and design development.
  • Prepare engineering drawings and documentation using industry-standard software.
  • Contribute to hydrological, hydraulic modelling and drainage studies.
  • Undertake site visits, inspections and surveys.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, feasibility studies and client presentations.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Understand design standards, CDM requirements and industry best practices.
  • Support project delivery towards professional chartership.

About The Team

Our Water & Flood Management team helps communities become more resilient to flooding, climate change and environmental pressures through innovative engineering and sustainable solutions.

We are looking for ambitious and enthusiastic Civil Engineering students to join our growing team in Belfast for a 12 month Industry Placement. This is an exciting opportunity to begin your professional career working alongside experienced engineers on high-profile flood risk, flood resilience, river engineering, drainage and water management projects.

What You’ll Be Doing
