Job summary

Amey is offering a 12-month Industry Placement in Water & Flood Management within Civil Engineering. Based in the UK, the placement supports flood risk and water management projects across Birmingham, Cardiff and other sites.

You will gain hands-on experience, perform calculations, create drawings, visit sites, and contribute to reports and client presentations while working with multidisciplinary teams toward chartership.

  • Contribute to hydrological, hydraulic modelling, flood risk assessments and drainage studies.
  • Undertake site visits, inspections and surveys.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, feasibility studies and client presentations.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Develop understanding of design standards, CDM requirements and best practice.
  • Support project delivery toward professional chartership.

About the Team

Our Water & Flood Management team helps communities become more resilient to flooding, climate change and environmental pressures through innovative engineering and sustainable solutions.

We are looking for ambitious and enthusiastic Civil Engineering students to join our growing team in Belfast for a 12 month Industry Placement. This is an exciting opportunity to begin your professional career working alongside experienced engineers on high-profile flood risk, flood resilience, river engineering, drainage and water management projects.

What you’ll be doing

As a Civil Engineering Placement Student within the Water and Flood Management team, you will be involved in the following;

  • Support the feasibility, design and delivery of flood risk and water management projects.

To be considered, you'll need to meet the following requirements:
  • working towards a BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering
  • Full UK Driving License

  • Enthusiasm for water, environmental and flood risk engineering.
