Amey invites applications for a 12-month Industry Placement in Bridges and Civil Structures Engineering in London, starting September 2027. You’ll join an experienced team delivering high-impact infrastructure projects and gain hands-on experience across design, analysis, inspections and asset management.

You will develop technical skills under supervision, contribute to sustainability-focused solutions, and learn from industry experts while working on UK and international assignments.

Qualifications

• Currently studying Civil or Structural Engineering at Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD level.
• Interest in bridges / civil structures and a commitment to sustainable development.

Responsabilités

• Be part of an experienced team, working on exciting projects across the UK and internationally.
• Assist in developing practical, sustainable solutions for bridges and civil structures from investigation to optioneering, feasibility, concept and detailed design, construction supervision and asset management.
• Assist in structural analysis, design and assessment calculations.
• Develop carbon and cost estimates, 3D models, drawings and technical documents.
• Assist with bridge inspections, investigations, structural health monitoring, and supervision of works.
• Contribute to development and implementation of data, analytics and digital technology solutions.

About The Team

Our bridges and civil structures team work across a range of sectors including transportation, water and energy. Our clients include National Highways, Transport Scotland, Network Rail, Welsh Government, Department for Infrastructure, MOW Bahamas, Local Authorities and D&B Contractors. We have multiple long-term contracts and continue to grow and expand into new regions and markets. Recent / ongoing projects include:

• National Highways Scheme Delivery Frameworks
• Severn Bridges Specialist Bridge Inspection and Maintenance
• Bahamas Glass Windows Bridge replacement
• Network Rail TransPennine Route Upgrade
• ADEPT Live Labs 2 Decarbonisation programme
• A66 Northern Trans-Pennine upgrade design
• Transport for London Infrastructure Improvement Framework

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Bridges and Civil Structures Placement Student, over the 12 months you will

• Be part of an experienced team, working on some of the most exciting and challenging projects across the UK and internationally.
• Help develop practical, sustainable solutions for bridges and civil structures; from investigation to optioneering, feasibility, concept and detailed design, construction supervision and asset management.
• Assist in structural analysis, design and assessment calculations.
• Develop carbon and cost estimates, 3D models, drawings and technical documents.
• Assist with bridge inspections, investigations, structural health monitoring, and supervision of works
• Contribute to the development and implementation of world-class data, analytics and digital technology solutions.
