Job summary

Safran in the United Kingdom is seeking an Industrialisation leader as a Manufacturing Engineer to drive the design-for-manufacture reviews, develop production processes and support cross-functional teams. The role focuses on new product introduction, PFMEA, and process validation to ensure on-time, cost-effective delivery of high-quality assemblies.

The ideal candidate has a background in mechanical/manufacturing/aerospace engineering with experience in aerospace manufacturing and DFMA

Qualifications

• B.Eng. in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Aerospace Engineering OR HND gained through an apprenticeship.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an aerospace or automotive manufacturing environment.
• Basic knowledge of design for manufacture and assembly principles.
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Interrogation of 3D CAD modelling software.
• Ability to interpret 2D drawings.
• Experience of working within company and regulatory processes, standards and specifications (Desirable).
• CATIA 3D CAD modelling software (Desirable).
• Understanding of aircraft certification process (Desirable).
• Aircraft seat manufacture (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Participate in design reviews during new product introduction and suggest improvements.
• Evaluate new product designs using 3D CAD models and log issues; coordinate assembly/manufacture reviews.
• Ensure development mock-ups are built to schedule and validate solutions.
• Conduct make vs buy analyses and drive required changes with purchasing/design teams.
• Calculate production capacity needs and line balancing for new processes.
• Produce APQP & PPAP documentation including PFMEA, control plans, and MSA studies.
• Lead PFMEA reviews and drive product/process improvements.
• Validate design against system engineering requirements for quality and performance.
• Identify tooling/equipment needs for new assembly processes and write specs for suppliers.
