Job summary

Arup is seeking an undergraduate to join our Strategic Water Services team in Bristol. You will explore policy, regulation, investment planning and asset management across water projects, working with experts across Arup's global network.

From day one you will contribute to thought leadership, client engagement and the delivery of innovative solutions, with opportunities for formal training and a broad range of experiences.

Qualifications

• Currently studying toward a Bachelor's or Master's in a water-related discipline.
• Course accredited by ICE, CIWEM or equivalent.
• Interest in the water sector with understanding of regulation and long-term investment.
• Motivation to address climate resilience, environmental improvement, water security, affordability and sustainability.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an undergraduate to join our dynamic and growing team who is excited by the challenge of driving innovation, delivering excellence for our clients, influencing the sector both nationally and internationally through our projects and thought leadership, and working in collaborative, diverse teams.

We combine policy, strategy, economics, engineering and asset management expertise to help clients make better long-term decisions. Our work influences national policy, investment decisions and operational strategies across the water sector.

From your first day, you'll work alongside some of the water sector's leading practitioners.. We will support your development through your time with us. There may be opportunities for formal training and opportunities to conduct thought leadership, business development and client engagement.

This position offers the opportunity to work across strategy, regulation, resilience, investment planning, engineering and asset management rather than focusing on a single technical discipline.

You will benefit from collaborating with experts from across Arup's global network and play a role in shaping the future of the water sectorWorking as part of a team, your role will expose you to how we generate advice for city and infrastructure clients on a range of policy, regulatory, asset management and engineering issues.

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

Requirements for this role:

Currently studying toward a Bachelors degree in Water, Process Engineering, Civil and/or Environmental Engineering, Geography, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Geophysics, OR; Masters or post-graduate Degree in a similar Water related discipline.

• Studying a course accredited by ICE, CIWEM or equivalent

Interest in the water sector generally with a high-level appreciation of the role of regulation, business planning and long-term investment.

Motivation to help address climate resilience, environmental improvement, water security, affordability, and sustainability challenges.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills ability to use and interpret data, evidence and research.

An appreciation of complex systems and the need to balance technical, environmental, social, economic, and regulatory factors.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work within small project teams.

Curiosity, initiative, and an organized approach to delivering high-quality work.
