Job summary

Interaction Recruitment is seeking an experienced Industrial Mechanical Engineer in the Harlow area to join a busy workshop team. You will inspect, repair, rebuild and test a range of industrial mechanical equipment, including motors, pumps, gearboxes, fans and blowers.

A strong hands-on background and fault diagnosis ability are essential. The role requires working with three-phase motors and associated systems, with a UK driving licence and good English communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in pump and/or electrical motor repair.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical/mechanical engineering.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Experience with three-phase motors and associated equipment desirable.

Responsibilities

• Strip, inspect and repair industrial motors and machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and identify required repairs.
• Repair and rebuild single and three-phase electric motors.
• Work on industrial pumps, including freshwater and sewage pumps.
• Repair and service industrial gearboxes.
• Inspect and repair industrial fans and blower units.
• Carry out mechanical assembly and disassembly.
• Assist with testing and commissioning of repaired equipment.
• Work with electrical controls and related systems as needed.
• Maintain high workmanship and safety standards.
• Complete work efficiently and to quality standards.
• Collaborate with workshop and engineering team; attend customer sites when required.

Industrial Mechanical Engineer

Location: Harlow, Essex (CM20)

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Working Pattern: Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:30pm; Friday 8:00am-3:30pm

Overtime: Available and paid at premium rates

About the Company

Our client is an established engineering company with over 100 years of industry experience and a strong reputation for providing comprehensive industrial engineering services.

Their specialist workshop facilities allow equipment to be diagnosed, repaired, manufactured, rebuilt, tested and painted under one roof.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Industrial Mechanical Engineer to join their workshop team.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, dismantling, repair, refurbishment, rebuilding and testing of a range of industrial mechanical equipment.

The role will involve working primarily with:

• Industrial electric motors - single and three phase
• Industrial gearboxes
• Fans and blower units
• Industrial pumps
• Freshwater and sewage pumps
• Industrial machinery and associated mechanical equipment

The position would suit an experienced mechanical engineer with a strong practical workshop background and hands‑on experience repairing industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Experience

Candidates should have substantial hands‑on industrial engineering experience, including:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in pump and/or electrical motor repair
• Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical/mechanical engineering
• Proven experience working with industrial fans, motors, pumps and machinery
• Experience stripping, repairing and rebuilding industrial equipment
• Practical mechanical engineering/workshop experience
• Full UK driving licence
• Good spoken and written English
• Right to work in the UK

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous:

• Electrical engineering experience
• Experience with electrical controls
• Experience diagnosing electrical/mechanical faults
• Experience working with industrial machinery
• Experience with three-phase motors and associated equipment
• Experience within a workshop, maintenance or industrial engineering environment

Working Hours

Monday-Thursday: 8:00am-4:30pm

Friday: 8:00am-3:30pm

Includes a 30-minute lunch break and scheduled breaks.

Overtime and call‑out work may be required and are paid at premium rates.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a hands‑on Industrial Mechanical Engineer who is confident working on heavy industrial equipment and has genuine practical experience repairing and rebuilding motors, pumps, fans, blowers and gearboxes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, with electrical knowledge being highly desirable. They should be comfortable diagnosing faults, stripping equipment down, carrying out repairs and rebuilding machinery to a high standard.

A full UK driving licence is required due to the potential requirement for site visits and call‑outs.
