Job summary

Adecco Group UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer for a busy heavy industrial operation. This dayshift role covers hands-on electrical maintenance, fault finding and improving equipment reliability.

You will work with production and engineering to maximise uptime, perform planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults and ensure safe, efficient work on motors, drives, PLCs and control panels.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in heavy plant, industrial, processing or manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with industrial motors, drives, control panels and distribution systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and automated machinery.
• Familiarity with inverters, sensors and industrial control systems.
• Experience carrying out both planned preventive and reactive maintenance.
• Strong understanding of safe isolation procedures and electrical safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance across a range of industrial plant and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete effective repairs within agreed timescales.
• Conduct routine inspections and condition monitoring of electrical systems and machinery.
• Support the installation, commissioning and modification of plant and equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot motors, drives, control panels, sensors and automated systems.
• Fault-find on PLC-controlled equipment and assist with control system improvements.
• Interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
• Complete maintenance records and documentation accurately.
• Support planned shutdowns and larger maintenance projects when required.
• Work collaboratively with operations, engineering teams and external contractors.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with site health, safety and environmental procedures.
