Job summary

Hays is representing a leading national law firm recruiting an Industrial Disease Solicitor in Manchester. The role covers asbestos and occupational disease work with a broad range of illnesses and a supportive team environment.

You will manage your own caseload from inception through resolution, while supporting senior lawyers on complex/high‑value claims. Flexible/hybrid working is on offer.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with 0–5 years' PQE.
• Strong drafting, analytical and legal research skills.
• Excellent communication and client care abilities.
• Empathy when dealing with vulnerable clients and families.
• Interest in business development and commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of asbestos and occupational disease claims from inception to resolution.
• Handle mesothelioma, asbestos-related lung cancer, asbestosis and other illnesses.
• Run litigated matters independently with supervision.
• Assist partners on complex, high-value claims.
• Draft pleadings, witness statements and schedules of loss.
• Liaise with clients, medical experts, counsel and stakeholders.
• Conduct legal research and provide detailed advice.
• Build and maintain client/referrer relationships.
• Contribute to business development and networking.
