Job summary

ABM in Belfast is seeking a cleaning operative to join a team delivering high-quality cleaning and related services across various sites. You will follow instructions from the Industrial Manager or Supervisor and ensure accurate timekeeping and professional conduct at all times.

The role requires flexibility, good communication, and attention to detail, with opportunities to attend training and expand your skill set within ABM’s broad service offering.

Responsibilities

• Assist team of operatives in delivering cleaning and related services.
• Follow instructions from Industrial Manager or Supervisor.
• Ensure timesheets and break times are accurately recorded.
• Maintain professional conduct with clients, colleagues and the public.
• Complete duties to the best of your ability and report progress.
• Keep documentation updated per supervisor requests.
• Be flexible to cover duties as needed.
• Attend training and implement learned procedures.
• Take on new cleaning tasks to support service growth.
• Perform risk assessments and report hazards immediately.
• Report accidents or near misses to Line Manager.
• Report defective equipment promptly and follow safety guidelines.
• Support window, kitchen, floor and carpet cleaning tasks as required.
• Assist with ad hoc duties and up-selling where appropriate.
• Contribute to maintaining high standards in vehicle and site cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

• To work with a team of operatives providing services such as directed by Industrial Manager or designated Supervisor.
• To follow reasonable instructions from Industrial Manager / Supervisor.
• To ensure time sheets are completed accurately and on time including break times recorded.
• To have a professional approach to Clients, Colleagues, Members of the Public always.
• To complete assigned duties to the best of your ability.
• To ensure that documentation is completed as requested by Industrial Manager / Supervisor.
• To be flexible in your work and assigned duties.
• Take ownership for your personal development, by attending training as requested and adhere to the training upon returning to the workplace.
• Willingness to attend training programmes as directed.
• Willingness to take on new skills to enhance the Company’s profile and Service Offering.
• Perform risk assessments.
• Report hazards in line with company procedures.
• Report accidents, incidents and near misses of any nature to your Line Manager immediately, or prior to end of the shift.
• Take care of equipment – report any defective equipment to supervisor/manager immediately.
• Always Adhere to ABM’S Health & Safety guidelines.
• Comply with ABM’s Policies & Procedures.
• Window Cleaning (High level & Low level).
• Kitchen / Food Production Area Cleaning.
• Hard Floor Cleaning & Maintenance.
• Carpet and upholstery cleaning Programmes.
• Pressure-washing.
• Support the wider Soft Services function in the case of planned leave or absence.
• IT Equipment Cleaning.
• Car Park and Public Area Maintenance.
• Factory / Production Area Cleaning.
• Specialist Cleaning.
• Ad Hoc Cleaning Requests as directed from time to time.
• High level cleaning.
• Support the growth of the business, where possible, by up-selling and cross-selling to the customer and by passing on potential sales leads.
• Support any customer initiatives which could lead to longer term benefits to both the customer and ABM.
• Any other ad-hoc duties as reasonably requested by a member of the ABM Management team.
