Job summary

First Military Recruitment are seeking a Repair Technician (PLC’s) to join an established engineering business in Blackburn, Lancashire. You will inspect, test, fault-find, repair and refurbish PLCs, HMIs and drives, working with a range of industrial automation equipment.

The role offers on-the-job training, development of specialist skills in industrial automation, and a pathway into civilian engineering careers.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in engineering, electronics or electrical systems.
• Strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and established procedures.
• Confidence using hand tools and a willingness to learn.
• Previous experience in engineering, maintenance, electronics or equipment repair is advantageous.
• An electrical or electronic engineering qualification would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test and repair industrial electrical and electronic equipment.
• Diagnose faults and troubleshoot automation components.
• Clean, service and refurbish equipment, replacing faulty or worn components where required.
• Work with PLCs, HMIs, inverters, drives and other control systems.
• Use diagnostic equipment, including multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Develop soldering and component replacement skills.
