Job summary

A Gloucester-based mainstream primary school is seeking an Individual Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs. This role is based in Gloucester and starts ASAP.

The position is full-time, 8:30am–3:30pm, with a daily rate of £90-£105. An Enhanced DBS is required or willingness to apply. Salary will depend on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting a pupil with additional needs.
• Ability to follow Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) guidance.
• Willingness to learn communication strategies such as BSL or Makaton.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 support to help the pupil thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
• Assist with communication strategies and adapt activities to individual needs.
• Implement EHCP-based learning plans and track progress.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals.
• Support safeguarding and create a safe, inclusive classroom environment.

About the Role:

Provide tailored 1:1 support to help a child thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Assist with communication strategies, including BSL, Makaton, or other AAC methods (Not essential)
Implement individual learning strategies in line with the child’s Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).
Work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to adapt learning activities.
Encourage independence while offering reassurance and guidance.
Track progress and share key insights with the wider school team and parents.
