Job Description:

Siemens is creating its first UK-based Rail Industry Hub on the outskirts of Goole in the East Riding of Yorkshire. With an initial contract to assemble nearly 50 trains to service the Piccadilly line on the London Underground, we are recruiting up to 300 skilled technical and support colleagues in our Manufacturing Facility. Future work is expected to increase this number and expand into maintenance and overhaul activities, demonstrating a long-term commitment to the area and growth in employment and career opportunities.

We are looking for a Purchasing Operative focusing on indirect materials to join the Logistics team in Goole. Your role will be to ensure the cost-efficient and timely supply of indirect materials according to factory requirements.

How you will make an impact:
  1. Process purchase requests and ensure the on-time delivery of materials to the site.
  2. Engage with stakeholders in the supply chain to improve material flow, communicate requirements, and raise concerns.
  3. Analyze data, including sales and consumption from vendor-managed inventory solutions, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  4. Handle the purchasing process from RFQ’s, negotiations, purchase orders, to product delivery and invoice discrepancies.
  5. Utilize data analysis skills with Excel and work with MRP systems like SAP.
  6. Maintain excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  7. Identify and implement cost-saving measures in the supply chain.
  8. Be proactive and self-motivated.
Beneficial experience:
  • Purchasing experience in the Rail industry.
  • Experience with Vendor Managed Inventory and manufacturing environments.
  • Monitoring supplier performance and KPIs.
  • International supply chain experience.
  • Working towards CIPS qualification.
