Job summary

WithYou in Bournemouth is seeking an Independent Prescriber to join our team, delivering clinical assessment, diagnosis and management in a community setting. You will work with a diverse client group, ensuring high-quality recovery care and adherence to national regulations.

The role requires successful completion of the independent prescriber course and an entry on the NMC or GPhC register, with ongoing CPD and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Registered Pharmacist (GPhC) with independent prescriber training.
• Experience delivering nursing interventions in a community setting.
• Evidence of CPD and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are looking for a Independent Prescriber to join us in Bournemouth.

Our Bournemouth Drug and Alcohol service are recruiting for an experienced Independent Prescriber to join them in providing high quality recovery care to a diverse client group. If you are a registered Nurse or a Registered Pharmacist who thrives working in a community setting, assessing and supporting people, this might be just the role for you.

Please note that you must have successfully completed the supplementary/independent prescriber course and hold an appropriate entry on the NMC register or GPhC register to be considered for this position.

As a Independent Prescriber, you will be responsible for carrying out clinical assessment, diagnosis and clinical management in line with both WithYou and National regulations, policies and procedures. You will be eager to keep up to date with developments in the treatments that you are prescribing and help With You to develop, implement and evaluate the interventions we use with our clients.

These include:

• To take responsibility for clinical assessment, diagnosis and clinical management.
• To provide harm reduction support, information and advice to individuals in relations to substance misuse.
• Act as an advisor for non-clinical team members in relation to the health care needs of clients attending the service.
• Provide assessment and ongoing management of substitute prescribing for clients in liaison with pharmacists and central prescribing doctors.
• Test for substance use and feedback to individuals and services where appropriate.

You will be used to working effectively as a healthcare professional, as part of a team and collaboratively with other social care contacts to deliver the best outcomes for clients.

You’ll work closely with the Operational & Clinical Leadership along with our Recovery Workers to ensure that the clinical and psychosocial needs of the individual are met and that prescribing is safe, effective and in accordance with best practice whilst meeting the individual needs of the client. This is a full time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week. As part of this role, the successful candidate will hold a full UK driving license and have access to a vehicle.

To be effective in this role you will:

• be a Registered Nurse (NMC) OR a Registered Pharmacist (GPhC)
• have successfully completed the supplementary/independent prescriber course and hold an appropriate entry on the NMC register or GPhC register
• be able to evidence your continuous professional development
• have a successful track record of delivering nursing interventions in a community setting
• be able to demonstrate your experience of healthcare assessments, care planning and key working
• be able to evidence peer working or working within a multidisciplinary team
• have knowledge of the issues affecting substance misusers, including the impact on their wider health
• be able to work effectively in a team environment, using collaborative and supportive approaches to your work
• have strong organisational/time management skills, able to manage competing and conflicting demands
• be comfortable and confident using IT packages
• be able to accurately gather and maintain records and information
• Have a full UK Driving license and access to a vehicle.
