The Role & Responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated and organised Income and Payments Apprentice to support our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a busy finance environment while working towards a recognised qualification.

You will develop strong practical skills while receiving structured training and support throughout your apprenticeship.

Key responsibilities are:

  • Processing invoices accurately and in a timely manner
  • Supporting the management of income and payments
  • Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date financial records
  • Assisting with data entry and financial reconciliation
  • Responding to internal and external queries professionally
  • Working calmly and efficiently, even during busy periods
  • Adhering to financial controls, procedures, and deadlines
Who We Are Looking For

  • Is able to manage workloads calmly under pressure
  • Has a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively
  • Has a basic understanding of numeracy and IT skills (training will be provided)

You do not need to tick every box, if you have strong analytical skills and enjoy working with financial systems, we want to hear from you.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 GCSEs (or equivalent), English and Maths (desirable)

If you're not sure you meet the criteria, still apply, we value potential and mindset.

Our Commitment to Accessible & Inclusive Recruitment

We’re committed to a barrier‑free recruitment experience.

If you need adjustments, at any stage, just let us know.

We can offer:

  • Alternative assessment formats (written, visual, step‑by‑step)
  • Flexible interview scheduling
  • Extra processing time
  • Quiet interview spaces
  • Clear and structured onboarding
  • No “hidden rules”

We recognise that different people work in different ways, and we embrace that!

The successful candidate will be enrolled on either a Level 2 or Level 3 AAT Apprenticeship, depending on their current skills, qualifications and experience.

We are committed to providing a positive learning experience and will work with the successful candidate to identify the most suitable training provider, wherever possible, to support their development and success throughout the apprenticeship.

What We Can Offer

We provide a friendly and supportive environment for you to excel in. We also offer several employee benefits (subject to eligibility), including:

  • Benenden Healthcare Membership and Employee Assistance Programme
  • Local Government Pension Scheme (with the option for Additional Voluntary Contributions)

Due to the nature of the role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake a Basic DBS check as well as a Baseline Personal Security Standard (BPSS) as part of their pre‑employment clearances.

The quality of your application will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
