Job summary

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Northfleet, is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support high-quality teaching and learning for all pupils, including those with SEND and barriers to learning. The role promotes an inclusive environment aligned with Gospel values and Catholic ethos.

You will work under the Class Teacher, supporting literacy, numeracy and broader learning, while assisting with pastoral care and safeguarding to help pupils progress and participate fully in school life.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of high-quality teaching and learning under the direction of the Class Teacher.
• Support individual pupils, small groups and whole-class activities as directed by the teacher.
• Explain instructions, model tasks, scaffold learning and provide resources.
• Encourage independent and resilient learning.
• Provide feedback to pupils and reinforce learning.
• Prepare and organise learning resources for lessons.
• Support literacy, phonics, reading, writing and maths as needed.
• Deliver structured interventions planned by the teacher.
• Observe pupil responses and report progress to the Class Teacher.
• Contribute to assessment and recording of pupil progress as required.
• Support learning outside the classroom during visits, enrichment activities and events.
