East Kent Colleges Group is seeking an Inclusive Learning Tutor to support students facing learning difficulties and to deliver targeted 1:1 support. You will assess progress, plan interventions and ensure sessions complement designated study programmes.
You will lead a small team of learning support staff, running regular supervision meetings and contributing to staff development through the Teacher Academy. Training is provided if needed to those new to teaching.
Shape Learning to the Learner, and Unlock Potential - Join us as Inclusive Learning Tutor As an Inclusive Learning Tutor in the EKC group you will assess and work with students from a variety of learning environments who are experiencing difficulties with learning. Your role will include providing 1:1 support to learners to enable them to achieve their maximum potential, and planning focused tasks which complement designated study programmes and/or courses. You will have key responsibility for ensuring the design, delivery and evaluation of these support programmes. You will also have responsibility for the management of a team of learning support staff, including day‑to‑day supervision, monthly support meetings and management of the probation process. You may also be involved in the delivery of in‑service staff training. We pride ourselves in the support we can give those who are new to teaching, with ongoing training and coaching through our Teacher Academy. If you do not have any teaching experience or teacher qualifications but have a passion for sharing your knowledge and would like to be considered for this teaching role, please apply., You will have a passion for overcoming barriers to learning. You will be highly organised, creative and be able to plan and teach engaging and innovative sessions. You will have strong demonstrable interpersonal skills to engage reluctant learners. They will be skilled in assessing and tracking student progress and planning further intervention. This will be a vital part of the role, ensuring all students develop the skills they need to succeed. You will be able to teach a range of designated study programs and/or ad hoc sessions from Level 2 up to Level 3, and will be able to motivate learners to achieve and succeed on their programmes of study. You will also have proven people management skills to supervise and develop a team of learning support staff. Experience in working with individuals with learning needs and/or care needs would also be an advantage. Ideally you will have experience of teaching or have delivered 1:1 support or training in the workplace, although this is not essential as training will be offered to the successful applicant. Your involvement with students will include participating in the consultation process for students with EHCPs hoping to attend a college in the EKC Group. You will support any students working at level 2 and 3 to ensure a high quality learning experience. You will also conduct annual reviews for students with EHCPs to consider their achievements, support needs and next destinations.
