Job summary

Oakwood Academy is seeking a proactive Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs, enabling access to the curriculum and promoting wellbeing. You will work under teachers and senior staff to deliver learning activities, adapt approaches, and observe progress while maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment.

The role involves collaborating with colleagues, preparing resources, and supporting safeguarding responsibilities.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
• Understanding of child development and SEND needs.
• Strong communication, teamwork and ICT skills.
• Patient, caring, adaptable and proactive approach.
• First-aid awareness and willingness to undertake training.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality learning, care and pastoral support for pupils with additional needs.
• Help implement education, behaviour and personal care programmes as directed.
• Prepare and maintain resources and a welcoming learning environment.
• Observe, record and communicate pupils’ progress and barriers to learning.
• Support safeguarding, welfare and inclusion in line with school policies.
• Attend meetings, training and development activities and reflect on practice.
