Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd in Bristol is seeking an Inclusive Learning Assistant for a welcoming Horfield primary school to support pupils from Reception to Year 6. You will provide personalised 1:1 and small group support for children with SEN, helping them access learning and build confidence.

Work closely with teachers, SEND staff and families to promote inclusion, monitor progress and adapt approaches to individual needs. A DBS check and two professional references are required.

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient and compassionate Inclusive Learning Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Horfield. This rewarding full-time role involves working closely with children ranging in age from Reception to Year 6, providing tailored behavioural, pastoral and academic support on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) who is committed to promoting inclusion, building positive relationships and helping every child succeed.

About the Role

As an Inclusive Learning Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs to access learning, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.

Working closely with teachers, SEND staff and families, you will provide personalised support that enables pupils to engage with learning, manage challenges and make meaningful progress.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 support for pupils with SEN across the primary age range.
• Delivering targeted interventions and support in small group settings.
• Supporting pupils' academic progress through tailored learning activities.
• Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social development.
• Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and acting as a consistent positive role model.
• Supporting pupils with pastoral needs and wellbeing throughout the school day.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SEND professionals and families.
• Contributing to a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
• Recording pupil progress and sharing observations with the wider staff team.

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Have professional experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
• Be confident supporting behavioural, emotional and social needs.
• Demonstrate patience, empathy and resilience.
• Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Be committed to inclusive practice and high expectations for all children.
• Be able to adapt their approach to meet individual pupil needs.
• Work effectively as part of a team while showing initiative and independence.
• Be able to provide two years of professional references.
• Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.

Experience supporting pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, communication difficulties or learning difficulties would be highly advantageous.
