Job summary

Killisick Junior School is seeking a committed and inspirational Inclusion Lead to champion inclusive practice and ensure every day counts for every child. The Inclusion Lead will shape an inclusive culture, ensure systems and provision meet the needs of all pupils, model best practice, and train staff.

As a Leadership Team member, you will support the Headteacher in behaviour, attendance and pupil premium provision, and work with families and external agencies.

Qualifications

• SENDCO with knowledge of the SEND code of practice and effective strategies for supporting pupils with additional needs.
• DSL training and safeguarding knowledge.
• Data-driven approach to raising standards and tracking pupil progress.

Responsibilities

• Lead on inclusion and champion inclusive practice across the school.
• Support and train staff to meet the needs of all pupils.
• Work with families and external agencies to ensure appropriate support.
• Fulfil statutory duties of SENDCO and oversee behaviour, attendance and pupil premium provision.

Job description

Killisick Junior School is seeking a committed and inspirational Inclusion Lead to champion inclusive practice and ensure every day counts for every child. The Inclusion Lead will shape and sustain an inclusive culture, ensuring systems, processes and provision meet the needs of all pupils. You will model best practice, support and train staff, work in close partnership with families and external agencies, and fulfil the statutory responsibilities of a SENDCO. As a member of the Leadership Team, you will support the Headteacher in leading behaviour, attendance and pupil premium provision, while meeting the Teachers’ Standards and professional duties outlined in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.

What we are looking for:

• A leader who will champion the school's vision for inclusion and support strategic leadership
• A passionate and committed leader with a strong track record of supporting diverse and inclusive school environments
• An experienced SENDCO with in depth knowledge of the SEND code of practice and effective strategies for supporting pupils with a range of additional needs
• DSL training and experience and an understanding not only of legislation and procedures, but also an understanding how lived experiences impact children's experiences within school and how best to support this
• Enthusaistic drive of a culture of high expectations and strong outcomes for all pupils, including those with SEND and those eligible for pupil premium
• A collaborative leader who can work well with teachers, teaching assistants, wider school staff, external agencies, parents and children in order to effect positive change for children.
• Skilled in using data and evidence to analyse and identify patterns so as to implement effective strategies in a range of contexts including behaviour, attendance and pupil premium.
• Excellent communication and interaction skills, with the ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
