Job summary

Choice Teachers is seeking an Inclusion Assistant in Stevenage. This role offers 37 hours per week and a pathway from Temporary to Permanent, with opportunities for part-time arrangements for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will support students with SEND, work 1-to-1 or in small groups, assist with lessons, and help students access the curriculum in a safe, inclusive environment. Immediate start available in a vibrant educational setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting vulnerable young people or students with SEND in a school, college, or alternative provision.
  • Qualifications in learning support, education, or a related discipline (Level 2 English and maths essential).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and patience skills with a proactive and adaptable approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted 1-to-1 and small group support for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Assist in delivering engaging lessons and promoting student independence in line with EHCPs.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a welcoming, calm atmosphere.
  • Maintain accurate records and monitor student engagement for progress reviews.
  • Support students with study skills, pastoral needs, and building confidence toward goals.

Salary: £20,000 to £25,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Hours: 37 hours per week (Full-time), though part-time applications will be considered for the right candidate

Job Description

Choice Teachers is currently seeking a passionate, dedicated, and resilient Inclusion Assistant to join a vibrant educational setting in Stevenage. While this is primarily a full-time role (37 hours per week), we are very happy to consider part-time applications for the right candidate.

This role is ideal for a supportive professional who wants to make a meaningful impact on students' educational journeys, personal growth, and independence. You will provide vital in-class and out-of-class support for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them to access the curriculum and thrive in a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide targeted 1-to-1 and small group support for students with diverse additional learning needs, including neurodiversity and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) challenges.

  • Assist teaching staff in delivering engaging lessons, adapting materials, and promoting student independence in line with individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

  • Help manage classroom behavior positively and cultivate a welcoming, calm atmosphere where all learners feel secure.

  • Maintain accurate departmental records, monitor student engagement, and contribute to progress tracking and reviews.

  • Support students with study skills, pastoral needs, and building confidence to help them progress toward their aspirational goals.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Previous experience supporting vulnerable young people or students with SEND within a school, college, or alternative provision.

  • Relevant qualifications in learning support, education, or a related discipline (Level 2 or above in English and maths is essential).

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and patience skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach.

  • Available to start immediately on a full-time or flexible part-time basis.
