Job summary

A local authority service in Wolverhampton is seeking an Inclusion and Attendance Service Manager to lead the Inclusion and Attendance Team. Inclusion and Attendance Service Manager

Salary: £46/ Hour
Job type: Long Term Contract
Location: Wolverhampton

To develop and influence the city council’s strategy in relation to vulnerable learners. To ensure the delivery of highly effective services to vulnerable learners in Wolverhampton and those placed outside of the city. To promote educational engagement and outcomes of vulnerable learners, specifically:

  • Children and young people of statutory school age who are not accessing full-time education, including due to persistent absence and exclusion.
  • Children and young people of statutory school age who attend alternative provision.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Management, supervision and monitoring of the overall and day to day work of the Inclusion and Attendance Team, providing effective leadership for the service, taking responsibility, being accountable and motivating staff.
  • Strategic and management responsibility for raising awareness of inclusion and early support and intervention for vulnerable learners.
  • Ensuring delivery of statutory duties in relation to alternative provision, school attendance, suspension and exclusions, children missing education, pupil not in full time education, pupils who cannot attend school due to medical needs, and elective home education.
  • Leading on the improvement of policy and procedures related to the education of vulnerable learners.
  • Communication with key internal and external stakeholders, including senior managers, elected members, Department for Education, and OFSTED about delivery of the above.
  • Developing and building relationships within the Families directorates, with schools across Wolverhampton and external agencies to progress and promote the inclusion and education of vulnerable learners.
  • Taking a lead role in representing the service within multi-agency forums and to contribute to/ lead on the development of policy and practice in Children and Education Services across the City.
  • To adopt a restorative practice approach and promote the use of restorative approaches within the service.
