Job summary

Orbit Fab, based at Harwell Campus in the UK, is seeking a Fluid Systems Engineer to advance fluid systems and propulsion technologies for in-orbit refuelling missions. You will contribute across hardware components, subsystems, and mission-critical testing to deliver reliable, on-time performance.

Ideal candidates bring broad experience in fluid systems or propulsion with a hardware-focused, iterative development approach and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience from requirements to detailed design and testing of fluid components.
  • Demonstrated collaboration with space systems engineering teams.
  • Experience leading qualification or test campaigns.
  • Ability to define customer needs and engineering requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the definition and development of fluid system architectures for major UK and European in-orbit refuelling missions.
  • Develop preliminary and detailed fluid system designs, supported by analysis and modelling.
  • Support BD activities from an engineering perspective as required.
  • Manage and maintain development schedules, systems requirements, and design budgets.
  • Guide systems engineering processes and facilitate technical trades across the system.
  • Support technical reviews and decision-making processes and development.
  • Plan, specify and follow up simulations and test campaigns to verify subsystem performance.
  • Lead hands-on build and testing of development models of components and subsystems.
  • Support flight hardware AIT activities, qualification, acceptance testing, and delivery as required.
  • Identify technical issues and proactively implement resolutions to mitigate schedule and cost impacts.
  • Identify suppliers and oversee component selection.
