Freight Personnel in the United Kingdom is supporting a well‑established freight forwarder to recruit an Imports Customs Specialist for maternity cover (one year). The role covers sea, trailer and some air freight customs work, using CDS and related systems, with a focus on accurate declarations and timely processing.

The successful candidate will handle duties including duty/VAT payments, port releases, CFSP and customs warehousing, and post‑clearance actions.

Qualifications

• Experience from working for a freight forwarder in a customs freight role.
• Broad understanding of the overall customs process.
• Knowledge of Import and Export Clearance systems such as CDS/Descartes/Chief/ASM/CNS/Destin8/BoxTop.
• Knowledge of the customs tariff.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Exceptional IT skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual.
• Strong organisational & time management skills.

Responsabilités

• Provide an outstanding level of customer service to both internal & external clients.
• Handle sea and trailer freight in the main with some air freight customs clearances using the CDS clearance system.
• Ensure the accurate and timely processing of import and export customs declarations.
• Ensure correct payment of duty & VAT.
• Manage the release of consignments at port.
• All aspects of CFSP & Customs Warehousing.
• Manage post clearance action.
