Job summary

Newcastle Bridges School in Newcastle upon Tyne is recruiting Teaching and Learning Assistants to join our friendly team, supporting pupils with medical or mental health needs to access a full-time education. Successful candidates will work under teachers, both individually and in small groups, to help pupils progress and reintegrate into mainstream where possible.

We require NVQ Level 3 DfE recognised TA or equivalent, experience supporting learning, and a flexible, team-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 DfE recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or higher with relevant experience.
• Experience of advancing progress of pupils within a learning environment.
• The ability to work constructively as part of a team and with a flexible approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom support to pupils in close collaboration with teachers, other school staff and supporting professionals
• Lead, as planned and directed by the teacher, with whole group, individual or small groups of pupils
• Respond positively and effectively to unexpected problems and situations
