Job summary

GSL Education - Newcastle is seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Stockton-on-Tees, supporting pupils in their learning and helping them reach their full potential within the classroom.

You will collaborate with teachers to provide 1:1 support and small-group interventions, assist with lesson preparation, promote positive behaviour, and help maintain an inclusive, safe learning environment in line with safeguarding and DBS requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people.
• Patience, adaptable and supportive approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Confidence supporting pupils with varying abilities and needs.
• Experience supporting SEND pupils (desirable).
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
• Have a fully checkable work history.

Responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning within the classroom.
• Work with pupils on 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Assist with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
• Deliver targeted interventions to support pupil progress.
• Promote positive behaviour and classroom engagement.
• Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs where required.
• Encourage pupil confidence, independence and participation.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
