Job summary

Oxfordshire County Council is seeking a Support Practitioner to work alongside Social Workers and provide hands-on support to children, young people and families. You will help turn plans into action, support safeguarding, and engage with families in homes and communities to achieve better outcomes.

You'll build trusting relationships, contribute to assessments, and collaborate with partner organisations while remaining adaptable and proactive in a busy, ever-changing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children, young people or families in social care, education or related settings.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt to different situations and people.
• Resilience, organisation and the confidence to work independently while knowing when to seek support.
• Ability to manage sensitive information and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Help progress children's care plans and provide practical support to children, young people and families.
• Turn plans into action, supporting safeguarding and the duty service.
• Engage with professionals from other agencies and contribute to assessments.
• Spend time with children in homes and communities, building trusted relationships.
