Job summary

Randstad Education is recruiting Secondary Teaching Assistants for September in Maghull (L31) and surrounding Sefton areas. The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group support for KS3 and KS4, helping students understand coursework and stay focused in class.

You will work with teachers to manage the classroom, support student organisation, and foster confidence during key school years. Various contracts available: full-time, part-time, or day-to-day supply.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting teenagers or young people (e.g., TA, mentoring, coaching, tutoring).
• Confidence working in a high school environment.
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service or willingness to apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group academic support across KS3 & KS4.
• Assist subject teachers with classroom management and a productive space.
• Help pupils understand coursework and break down complex material.
• Keep disengaged students focused and on task during lessons.
• Support organisation, time management, and study habits in class.
• Circulate during whole-class teaching to offer quiet reassurance and guidance.
• Be a reliable, encouraging presence to boost student confidence.
