Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor for a secondary mainstream school on Consett Road, Gateshead. You will support the school when teachers are absent by delivering pre-prepared materials, keeping lessons on track and maintaining a calm classroom environment.

This role is ideal for those considering a future in teaching, returning to education, or gaining classroom experience without lesson planning or marking.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in schools, tutoring, mentoring, youth work or similar roles.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills are essential.
• Training or qualifications in education, childcare, youth work or a related field are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervising lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Delivering pre-set lesson materials and ensuring learning objectives are achieved.
• Following the school's behaviour management policy to maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.
• Supporting students with their classwork, including those with additional learning needs.
• Encouraging student engagement and ensuring lessons run smoothly throughout the school day.
